If you really love Delbert, prove it to me...

Brother-in-law Peter commented about my recent video post of Delbert McClinton that he wasn't sounding too good these days, but he was still cool.  A story about Delbert, Peter's old college roommate and an old flame:

Delbert is still cool. Here's a Delbert story. Bob R heard that Delbert was going to be playing soon at some town up there in the Colorado mountains. So at the next Thursday night "vinyl night" neighborhood cookout he dragged out all his old Delbert albums. Well, one beer led to another, and eventually to the ill-advised late night phone call to the one-time love back in Austin. That old sweet talker Bob says, "Darlin, come on up to Colorado to see Delbert one more time, for old times sake." Only this time it worked! She came, love or something like it conquered, and Bob is feeling a little bounce in his step. All cuzza Delbert. Still cool indeed.
