Pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday...
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and greet the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
For a quick second, I felt like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, again sitting next to The Reet at Anthony Jack's Wood-fired Grill on a wintry night, waiting for my co-chair Trish and hubby George to plan the Southington Rotary's 2009 Mardi Gras Night (see last Wed). But wait, is that not George at the bar nursing a beer? It is! Well, then there's at least a 25% chance of Trish actually showing up!
We grab George and drag him over to our table. He tells us Trish said she'd meet us here. We've heard that before, haven't we?. As GW once said, "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." Let's hope not. OMG, is it? Well, I'll be!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
