Congrats are in order to Wanda Jackson for her selection to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I caught Wanda at Cafe Nine (posting) back in 2005 when she was touring with Rosie Flores. YouTube clip
I was also pleased to receive a letter this week announcing that Billy Mecca has been selected to the Quinnipiac University Athletic Hall of Fame. The former men's head basketball coach and current senior associate director of athletics (whew!) is also the color man on QU Bobcats' radio/TV (there are those who say he looks much better on radio). Mecca is also the founder of the Quinnipiac Roundball Golf Tournament, as well as director of the exclusive Mecca Golf Tour. Rumor has it that QU is looking into a new title for Mecca which would bring him even CLOSER to Athletic Director without actually BEING Athletic Director (it's an "approaching infinity" thing). Suggestions include Senior Associate Athletic Director - Emeritus, Not Director of Athletics - But Really, Really Close, Senior Associate Athletic Director of the Highest Caliber.
