Yes, folks, just ONE week 'til JOHNNY GUMBO PIANO SHIRT FRIDAY at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival!!!!!!!!.....

So, what the hell is JOHNNY GUMBO PIANO SHIRT FRIDAY? Funny you should ask. Legend has it that Johnny Gumbo (christened as such during a morning round of Bloody Marys at Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar on Tchoupitoulas St.) was looking for a really unique shirt to buy at Jazz Fest a few years ago and came back to CT with his prized "Piano Shirt." Oh my, was Gumbo ever proud of that shirt - one of a kind. He wore it everywhere, soaking up compliments like a big egotistical sponge ("Oh, thanks, it's something I found in an out-of-the-way shop in New Orleans, not a tourist shirt like others get.").

Well, Johnny wore his PIANO SHIRT down to Jazz Fest last year and, amazingly, we saw HUNDREDS of PIANO SHIRTS in all sorts of variations, even PIANO SHIRT SKIRTS! So, the idea was hatched - designate the second Friday of Jazz Fest to be JOHNNY GUMBO PIANO SHIRT FRIDAY and photo Johnny Gumbo with every person we see wearing THAT SHIRT. We will post the results here and YOU can pick your favorites!

Jazz Fest 2007 kicks off today at 11am. Our friends from the Little Freddie King Blues Band are the first act at the Southern Comfort Blues Tent, which is back after a year's absence. Here are the performance schedule CUBES for today featuring Lucinda Williams, Van Morrison and Dr. John.

That is not just ANY old guy, Ms. Dreams. It is JOHNNY GUMBO in his prized PIANO SHIRT. Get with the program (and get out of my dreams and into my car).
