Just received an email promoting one Patrick Wolf, but I was more interested in the fact that he "has teamed" with Amy Winehouse for her North American tour. Did I mention that I REALLY like her new CD? Dates in the area are May 7 at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston and May 9 at the – Highline Ballroom (SOLD OUT!) in NYC. The tour dates mark Wolf’s first proper U.S. tour since his debut album Lycanthropy in 2004, and if a trio of NYC dates earlier this month are any indication the shows won’t disappoint. New York City residents can also catch Patrick Wolf on Monday, April 30th for an in-store performance and CD signing at Virgin Records in Union Square before he officially hits the road. See you there? I thought so. And stay tuned for more solo dates to be announced.
The Magic Position is Wolf’s third release, and finds him shedding his former fascination with the minor key in favor of major key piano-pop chock-full of electronic flourishes, hand clap-like drums, and orchestral strings. Check out the title track below.
