The Legendary Gussy P chimes in...

Last week, I asked for some of your offerings of your perfect fantasy band (see posting).  Well, the one, the only (perhaps a good thing) Gussy P, former lead vocalist/bassist/songwriter/defensive stopper for the iconic Westie Punks, has announced his.  This guy knows his shit, so pay attention!

As usual, I'm late responding to something.  Let's hope no one ever needs to receive 'the antidote' from me quickly.  At any rate, if I'm allowed to use some deceased band members, here's an interesting collection:

  • back up vocalists: Naomi somebody & Mary somebody - the Hot Licks from Dan Hicks' band during my college years (early 70's)
  • guitarists: Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner (Intro to Sweet Jane, Lou sent them packing fromGermany - "I'm the star," also Alice Cooper part II, I believe)
  • keyboards: Ray Manzera (Doors) He was interviewed on a salute to the old UCLA teams, as he was an art student in the early 60's - no mention of Sam Gilbert (the real Wizard of Westwood) during the time I was watching. Garth Hudson (The Band) can understudy
  • brass: Earle McIntyre, Howard Johnson, Snooky Young, JD Parran, & Joe Farrell - 1st two played on Taj Mahal "Real Thing" live album, & all of them played on The Band's "Rock of Ages" live songs
  • writer: Robbie Robertson, but then he'll want to play guitar, and then take over the group - it could get ugly
JK comment:  Excellent, as always, Gus.  Very nice call on Lowell George.  (Quick reminder confirming our annual Christmas shopping get together in the Macy's women's lingerie department.)
