Bands On the Run...

G-Man saw this and suggested that I post it to get y'all's take

Last week, NME magazine published its Ultimate Band issue (you can order a digital copy here) asking the best of the music world to tell who they would pick for their fantasy band line-up. A few of the responses are shown here. Of course they are serious artsy-fartsy bands with real reasons to pick the members, but I know my vast, knowledgeable constituency can do just as well, and with some attitude and creativity thrown in for good measure.  We'll let G-man start it off:

Band Name: Hipster's Hipster  by G-Man
Lead Singer: Dan Auerbach.  His voice can carry any song.
Background vocals: Cat Power.  Never heard anything like her voice and imagine it harmonizing with Auerbach's!
Guitarist: Jack White.  I've never heard cooler riffs.  He can do anything with the instrument
Songwriter / harmonica: Bob Dylan.  No reasons needed.
Piano: Ryan Sambol from The Strange Boys.  Love his playing from their newest album, Live Music
Drummer and Bassist anyone else can pick.  Doesn't matter who plays those with the rest of these musicians.

Hey, hold your horses.....I thinking, I'm thinking..... okay, here goes

Band Name:  No, Johnny, No! by JohnnyK

Dex Romweber (guitar) - intense, frenetic, very cool
Solomon Burke (vocals/sweat) -
Sarah Borges (vocals/rhythm guitar) - sorry I missed her last Saturday at Cafe Nine with her new band
Adam Weiner of Low Cut Connie (piano/theatrics) - see D, Romweber above
Willie Nelson (acoustic guitar) - love his pickin'
Johnny Gumbo (band manager) - we wouldn't make any money, but we'd have a GOOD time!
Bobby Louis diTullio (harmonica) - from Little Freddie King Blues Band; spent some quality time with Gumbo outside Ryan's Pub at Jazz Fest a few years back
Lucinda Williams (songwriter) - just in case we're having too much fun, Cindy will bring us down a peg.
The Pool Hall Studs (rap/disharmony/self-admiration) - they're great, just ask 'em!
Jaco Pastorious (bass) - loved him even before Joni found him
Patrick Carney (drums) - because no one pays any attention to him

Let's see what you got!  Gussy P, I'm looking at you!
