Low Cut Connie storms through New England!...

Due to the freak snowstorm on Wednesday night, I was unable to catch the Connie boys at Cafe Nine in New Haven (Pool Hall Stud Barry D texting he was in until about 4 pm), but Peter, Andy and friends caught them Thursday night at Johnny D's in Somerville.  According to Andy, "Great show.  Lonely Town (see below) and San Fran Boys were the two best songs, in my opinion."

Peter's take:
Johnny K has been touting these guys for months, so let's see what they got.

Met Andy and Helene at Redbones for a beer. They split a sliders variety pack....looked pretty good. Andy is pushing us to get over to Johnny Ds, because he "(doesn't) want to miss the opening song, in case it's one of my favorites." So, Andy, when was the last time you went to see a rock and roll band and they started on time?  But we follow along......and arrive at a not very crowded, actually kinda empty Johnny Ds, and the band on the stage is not LCC. So I ask the guy at the door, what's up, the web site says they were on at 8:30. Oh no, they're on at 9:45, see on my schedule right here on the wall.....musta had it wrong on the web site. No kidding. Old guys like shows early and on time.

We (Andy) think Dressed for the Occasion are pretty good ....young guys with a singer channeling Jim Morrison. They do a good job. On the way to the men's room I stop to say hi to Dan Finnemore. He says there were about four people at Cafe 9 the night before. What a bunch of wimps! Also check out TNF. Luck drops back, heaves a long one...it's intercepted! Whoops, word must have come down from NFLHQ...Can't have that! Quick, flag, roughing the passer. The defender runs right through Luck, just as he throws, great hit, and helmets meet....what's the guy supposed to do? Terrible call. A minute later the Colts are going down for a score.

LCC came out on schedule and put on a great show. I'll hear the CD differently now that I've seen the live act. They are tirelessly energetic and fun. Weiner is a witty, crazy comedian. You can't take your eyes off this guy. Is his father a rabbi? At one point I could swear he suddenly switched persona and became a cantor singing in the synagogue.

Good call by Johnny K
