It's a beautiful day (no, U2 isn't playing Jazz Fest)...

A perfect day, weather-wise.  Not a cloud in the sky, warm, but not oppressive.  An early morning walk around the Warehouse District gets the juices flowing.  Text from the Pool Hall Studs that they are going for a workout, then meet up for lunch.  The general plan is to get out to the Fairgrounds in time to catch Lucinda Williams at 1:30, so we have plenty of time.  By 11:00, the Studs feel they are sufficiently buff and meet me down in the lobby.  They raise the question about whether it is uncool to wear my Lucinda Williams World Without Tears Tour shirt to see Lucinda Williams.  I tell them that I considered that point, and decided it was cool enough for me.

Down to the Quarter looking for cigars (not for me) and lunch.  We briefly consider a Johnny's po' boy, but decide to eat some stuffed chicken wings at the bar at Nola.  Brilliant!  Not crowded, we have the bar (and the bartender) to ourselves.  Bloody Marys, three orders of stuffed wings (THE best!), some duck gumbo and some kind of Thai po' boy.  Fantastic.  Amen!  The bartender was a bit disappointed when we mentioned the Johnny Gumbo Rule, whereby you are not obligated to tip when you eat dinner at the bar, but he felt better when Mark decided to waive the rule for this occasion.
