MEMBERS ONLY???? That means you, Mark!
BMW OF BRIDGEPORT DRIVING MUSIC SERIES ★ members only event
(from FTC website)- Take a listen to the old Meters records from the ‘60s and ‘70s and tell
me they didn’t invent Funk. With classic tunes like “Cissy Strut,”
“Look-Ka Py Py” and “Fire on the Bayou,” the Meters can always free your
mind with Funk. And as original members of the Meters, Art “Poppa Funk”
Neville, on keys, and George Porter Jr., on bass, have reigned supreme
in the worlds of funk, R&B, jazz and rock ever since. The musical
family that surrounds the Meters legacy has spawned different
combinations of the Neville Brothers Band and helped breathe life into
the early music of Dr. John and Lee Dorsey, to name only two. They’ve
inspired countless others. Now, they’re coming to StageOne for one of
our most memorable Members Only events to date.
To be present for their timeless and swirling organ grooves, their early-funk muffled guitar licks, tight melodies and raw New Orleans power is to be in the presence of absolute musical greatness. This is what you get when you support FTC. The Funky Meters. Damn. “The Funky Meter's set easily proved that they could teach any band something about how to really jam a song, and the Austin audience responded with our own unique brand of rowdy craziness.” – Austinist.com
I said, I can't find nothing wrong with being friends, 'cause sometimes
She lets me use the car
She said, if you can't find nothing wrong with your mind
You'd better find something wrong with her,
So I began to try to explain that it wasn't just wasn't what she thought
I'd better find something to do with my time
The fact is I've just been caught!
